Preparation for First Eucharist at Saint Ambrose is a family based program in which parent participation is required, allowing parents and children to prepare together for the child to receive the Sacrament of Eucharist for the first time. Preparation for First Eucharist is undertaken after the completion of First Reconciliation, begining in early January for children in 2nd grade or older. The celebration of the Sacrament takes place in the spring. Please note that children must have completed a full year of Faith Formation or a catechesis in Catholic Day School before they can enroll in the preparation program for First Eucharist.
Preparation for the Sacrament of Eucharist includes both a parent meeting and a mandatory parent/child retreat to re-enforce and enhance the lessons taught at home. There is also an interview of the child just prior to receiving the Sacrament to ensure that they understand what they have been taught about the Sacrament of Eucharist.
- Please make sure to register your child for Sacraments. Preparation begins in the fall.
